In an ideal world you'd have done a little research as to what the fish or corals requirements are before obtaining it, so assuming this has been done then we are only left with the brands/quality of the food and the frequency of the feeds.
How to work out dose rates to set a dosing pump or even hand dosing daily.
This is what I do, others may have different ways but this method works for me.
Dosing pumps is used for accurately adding certain supplements, foods and/ or used as a continuous water change system.
It works with a low revolution pump (Peristaltic) with multiple ribs to accurately force the liquid through the tubing to drip into your tank.
Aquarium chillers have now become readily available and affordable for hobbyists to own, they are made to maintain a set temperature even in the hottest of summers (usually 25-26°C).
Some of the better quality units like Teco now have built in heater for better control of the temperature during colder months.
Maintaining stable parameters is something you will hear a huge amount of times in this hobby and one of the most important parameters is salinity.
The normal salinity range has a specific gravity of 1.026 or sits at around 35ppt (Parts Per Thousand) and this is prone to fluctuations as water evaporates from your aquarium.
