Fire - Ember Tetra - In Store Pick Up Only
Scientific Name:
Hyphessobrycon Amandae
Description:
The Fire-Ember Tetra is one of the smaller species of tetra, only reaching a maximum of 2cm. They are considered very easy to care for and are a much more playful, energetic species compared to a lot of other tetra as they are more confident in a tank, spending more time in the forefront and playing in the plants and driftwood.
Origin:
Originally comes from across the state of Mato Grosso in Brazil.
About me:
Compatibility:
The Fire-Ember Tetra are a hardy, easy to care for tetra that can live with a variety of other fishes so long as they are not too large or boisterous and do not require a higher flow. The are a schooling fish and enjoy being in larger schools of their own species so have been found to make a very good tank mate for dwarf South American cichlids such as Rams and Apistogrammas as they don’t dwell in the same areas of the tank.
Feeding:
Habitat:
These tetras enjoy an environment with slow water movement that is heavily planted and has a busy environment as that best mimics their natural habitat. Darker substrate shows off their colours best though the substrate can be either sandy or gravel, depending on personal preference. They enjoy floating plants and leaf litter as well as this provides more cover from flow and allows them more areas to hide and play in.
