Tank Setup:
Tank Size: A minimum of 100 litres - long-style tank (or larger) is recommended. 
Depth: Shallow, around 6-8 inches (15-20 cm) deep is ideal, with more length and width than depth. 
Substrate: Loosely planted with plants that reach near the surface for cover. 


Water Parameters:
Temperature: 23-30°C (73.4-86°F). 
pH: 6.0-7.5. 
Water Hardness: 2-10°d. 
Soft and acidic water is preferred . 
Peat filtration is recommended . 
Lighting: Low lighting. 
Cover: A secure lid or hood is essential as they are excellent jumpers. 
Surface Area: Prioritize ample surface area, as they naturally reside at the surface. 


Diet:
Carnivores: They are carnivores and prefer live foods. Will take flake and floating pellets.
Food: Feed them Brine shrimp, insects, and suitable freeze-dried foods. 
Live Food: They will only eat live food that comes within striking range, and may not even strike the food unless it touches them on the face. 


Compatibility:
Specialist Community: They are best kept in a specialist community tank.
Suitable Tank Mates:
Tetras (Neon, Lemon, Rummy Nose).
Corydoras Catfish.
Incompatible Tank Mates:
Fin-eating or aggressive fish. 


Other Considerations:
Availability: They are uncommon in the hobby. 
Lifespan: 3-5 years. 
Habitat: African. 


Breathing:

They use their swim bladders to breathe surface air and maintain buoyancy. 
Eyes: Their eyes are on the top of their head so they can view everything above them.
